Your home data deserves careful handling.
This policy explains what HARBODE collects, why we use it, who may receive it and the choices available to you under Nigerian data-protection law.
1. Who is responsible
HARBODE is owned and operated by Harbode Technologies Limited, the controller of personal data handled through our website, mobile apps, customer portal, professional portal and operations tools. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@harbode.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information such as your name, email address, phone number, account role and verification details.
- Home and service information, including addresses, appliance records, warranties, service requests, quotes, job notes and Home Passport history.
- Photos, videos, support messages and other material you choose to upload.
- Precise device location only when you actively share it during an eligible live job. Customers and assigned professionals may see the location needed to coordinate that job.
- Microphone audio only when you start or accept a protected call. HARBODE does not record or store the call audio; short-lived technical connection instructions are processed so the two browsers can connect.
- Payment references, amounts and status from Flutterwave. HARBODE does not store your full card details.
- Essential device, session, security and error information needed to operate and protect the service.
3. Why we use it
We use personal data to create and secure accounts, match customers with professionals, deliver and document services, process payments, maintain Home Passports, provide support, prevent fraud, improve reliability and meet legal duties. HARBODE Assist may analyse information you submit to explain Home Health, identify visible appliance-label details, organise a service conversation or prepare a draft service report. Star ratings from completed jobs contribute to professional profiles. A written review is published as a customer story only when you explicitly consent; public attribution is limited to your first name, area, service category and rating, and you may withdraw that consent through Support. Depending on the activity, our lawful basis is performance of a contract, compliance with law, your consent, or our legitimate interest in running a safe and accountable service.
4. When we share information
We share only what is reasonably necessary with the professional or customer assigned to a job and with service providers that support authentication, hosting, email, maps, payments, artificial-intelligence assistance, call connectivity and customer support. These include Flutterwave for payment processing, Google Maps for map and route features, OpenAI for enabled HARBODE Assist processing, and internet-connectivity services used to establish protected browser calls. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect safety or to address fraud and disputes.
5. Location, calls, media and Home Passport records
Live location sharing is off by default and is limited to supported stages of an active booking. You can stop sharing from the job screen. During an active journey, HARBODE retains a limited movement trail to display the route, calculate ETA, support safety and investigate a service dispute; it is visible only to the assigned participants and authorised operations staff. Protected calls require microphone permission and use encrypted browser audio without revealing telephone numbers; ending the call stops HARBODE’s microphone stream. Uploaded media and maintenance records may become part of the service record where this is necessary to assess work, resolve a dispute or maintain the Home Passport.
6. HARBODE Assist and human decisions
Automated assistance can be incomplete or wrong. It does not make a final technical diagnosis, approve a professional, authorise a payment, decide a dispute or replace qualified emergency advice. Customers and professionals must confirm extracted label details, summaries, safety information and service reports. Important decisions remain subject to user choice, professional judgement or authorised HARBODE review.
7. Retention and international processing
We keep data only for as long as needed for the purposes above, to protect users, settle transactions and meet tax, accounting or legal obligations. We then delete or anonymise it. Some providers may process data outside Nigeria; where that happens, we use contractual and other safeguards required by applicable law.
8. Security and backups
We use role-based access, encrypted connections, protected sessions, payment verification, operational logging and database recovery controls. AI provider credentials and map-routing credentials remain on protected servers rather than in the app. No online system is risk-free, so please protect your email account and report suspicious activity immediately.
9. Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, delete or receive your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent and challenge a decision based solely on automated processing. You can submit a verified request from the account deletion page. Some requests may be limited by legal or safety obligations. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
10. Cookies, age and changes
We use essential cookies and similar technology to keep you signed in, secure the service and remember required preferences. HARBODE is for adults aged 18 or over. We will post material policy changes here and, when appropriate, notify account holders.
